Today I scrapped another page for my 2018 travel journal:

Materials

DCWV Watercolour patterned paper
Cocoa Daisy Planner Page - May 2017 printable
Cocoa Vanilla Hello Sunshine die cut ephemera

My layout was inspired by the January mood board challenge at Scrap the Boys.  I used this as a basic sketch, and used the colours.

Cruising vacation

Happy New Year, 2020!

I've joined the creative team at ARTastic Challenge blog for another year.

This is the inspiration picture for January, a stunning piece by Donald James Waters called "Day Trippers".  I've been a fan of DJ's work for many years, and he's from my local area!

I was immediately drawn to the bright colours and clean lines, and of course, the VACATION or TRAVEL theme always inspires me to get scrapping!

It's been 2 years since I took my Mum on our first cruise, and I'm still chipping away at my travel journal.   I created a simple and colourful pocket page to keep my boarding pass:

Materials

DCWV Watercolour patterned papers
DCWV Watercolour journal card
Unbranded Flamingo paper clip
Green Tara 4cm Petals - White flower
D-lish Scraps Hydrangea Petals paper flowers
American Crafts Travel flair button
Wooden Painted Daisy buttons
Button from my habby stash

SURVIVOR - January entry

Soul Scrappers is celebrating the site's 10th anniversary in 2020, with a SURVIVOR-themed year long challenge.  It's modelled on the reality tv show, except there will be no eliminations.  I've signed up and I will be sharing my creations on my blog.

** Participants can sign up all year - and there's also a random element so everyone has a chance to earn points and win some scrappy prizes **

The January challenge has been posted already - and this is what I created for the 'SHELTER' theme:

Materials

DCWV Watercolour patterned papers
Fabric scraps
Unbranded wood veneer feathers

Here's a close up of the stitching and part of the journalling. I'm really pleased that the mix of patterned papers and fabric didn't clash too much (just the right amount of 'rustic').

Just when I think I can't possibly do another Christmas layout, here's another:

Materials

Kaisercraft Sparkle - Illuminate patterned paper
Kaisercraft Sparkle - Radiance patterned paper
Kaisercraft Sparkle - Luster patterned paper
October Afternoon Mini Market - Gray & Cream alphabet stickers
Satin ribbon

I'm sharing this page at Soul Scrappers for the final Mystery Bag challenge, which has the theme ANYTHING CHRISTMAS.

Hello

My scrap paper stash-busting continues, and I've raided my GREEN box for this one.  My layout was inspired by the Soul Scrappers Lift challenge for December.  I didn't do an exact lift; mostly I took the look and feel of the layout with two photographs, mixed paper strips and other scattered embellishments.

Materials

EK Success Cutter Bee - Flowers cutting dies
3 Bugs in a Rug Tickled Pink patterned paper
Cosmo Cricket Social Club - Martini patterned paper
Other paper scraps - various brands

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Cruising, Day 1

I've pulled out my project box of cruising photographs to create some more pages for my travel journal.  I've been making very slow progress, and jumping around out of sequence, so sadly I still have a handful of Day 1 photographs yet to be scrapped.  I need to be more disciplined, I think.

I'm sharing this layout at Soul Scrappers for the December Pick 3 challenge.  I used: 3 patterned papers + decorated tag + journalling.

Materials

DCWV Watercolour patterned papers
Unbranded white flowers
EK Success Jolee's Boutique pearls
My Mind's Eye Remarkable decorative tape
Satin ribbon

Merry Christmas

Yet another Christmas 2018 layout...  I'm sharing this one at Soul Scrappers for the RANDOM WORD challenge. I used the title prompt, Merry Christmas.

Materials

Bazzill Basics Kraft cardstock
Crafters Choice Rustic Christmas patterned papers
Dress it Up Holiday Collection - Christmas Eve resin embellishments
Unbranded Merry Christmas cutting die
Martha Stewart Arch Lattice edge punch

Party Time

I love delving into my old stash and using up my scraps... I actually think it's my favourite way to create layouts.  Today I scrapped this one:

Materials

Marvy Uchida 2" Square punch
Cocoa Vanilla Sugar & Spice - Pretty Plaid patterned paper
Cocoa Vanilla Sugar & Spice - Flutter patterned paper
Echo Park Victoria Gardens - Delightful Doilies patterned paper
Basic Grey Two Scoops - Strawberry Smoothie patterned paper
Basic Grey Romani - Archangel patterned paper
My Mind's Eye Bohemia (?) patterned paper
Twinings product packaging
Green Tara 4cm Petals - White paper flower

Unbranded Happy Birthday cutting die
Cocoa Vanilla Make a Wish accessory stickers

Spellbinders Butterflies cutting die
My Memories Mini Butterfly punch
Kaisercraft Rhinestones - Silver gems

I'm entering these challenges:

*  CSI Challenge ~ Case File #305 (Cold Case)

I used these clues:  pink/teal colours, grid style design, older papers from my stash, fussy cutting, buttons.

* Mystical Scrapbooks ~ Use a shape repeatedly on your layout
I used a large square punch to create the background square on my page.

* Simon Says Wednesday ~ Party Time

Grab 5

Soul Scrappers has a cool challenge called "Grab 5", a fun way of selective stash-busting.

Step 1 - Select and photograph 5 items from your stash - the older the better.

This is what I chose:

I have a pile of DCWV paper pads - I love them and really need to use them more often.  I chose two pads for this challenge, because I usually like to mix and match.  I *love* buttons and I've got zillions of them sorted by colour group in my habby stash.  Flowers - I don't think I'll ever get to the bottom of that particular stash.  The embellishment pack is unopened.

Step 2 - Create something using those items.

[Edit post 03/01/2020 to upload completed layout.]  I added some resin flowers to the mix, because I felt it needed a little bit more dimension.  Here it is:

Materials

DCWV Peri & Peach patterned paper
DCWV Fairytale Floral patterned paper
Unbranded resin flowers
Green Tara 4cm Petals - White paper flowers
Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart rubber charms
Buttons from my habby stash

Another Christmas page

This is my take on the December Tic Tac Toe challenge at Soul Scrappers. I created a Christmas-themed pocket page (a companion page for THIS ONE).

Materials

Simple Stories Sn@p! Insta-page insert
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Joy patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Santa's Team patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Treat patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! label stickers
Glitter foam stars
Metallic gold sewing thread
Satin ribbon scraps

This is the Tic Tac Toe challenge grid - I've completed four different lines:

All that glitters....

I've still got a few black & white photos from J-girl's 2018 glamour photo shoot.  I really like this one and thought it would look great with a touch of gold:

Materials

DCWV Palms and Ferns embossed patterned papers
Creative Embellishments Stars wood veneers
Glitz Design Icing - White Rhinestone gems
Uniball Signo - Gold gel pen

I always struggle to take a decent photograph of metallics (in this case a bright yellow-gold), with the light bouncing off everywhere!  I'm entering my layout in these December challenges:

* Mystical Scrapbooks ~ Use gold
Lots of gold going on here!  I used three different embossed papers from the same paper range.

* Creative Embellishments ~ Colour challenge

I kept to the colour scheme, and I used a glitter pen to outline the CE wood veneer stars.

Today I scrapped one of my favourite photographs from 2018:

Materials

Upcycled packaging - Lindt chocolate box
Bella! Happy Holidays patterned paper
Bella! Happy Holidays die cut tags

I'm sharing my layout at:

* Off the Rails Scrapbooking ~ December challenge
I took my inspiration from the Christmas quote, and used it on my page.

* CSI Challenge ~ Case File #304

Colours: red/green/white colour theme
Design elements: snowflakes, 'fuzzy' white trim

Jan 2020 Edited to add:  I was selected as a December winner at CSI Challenge!

A Joyful Time

I always know the team at Scrap the Girls will come up with something out of the box for the monthly challenge. This is the December challenge prompt, a "non traditional" Christmas theme:

So... my take on the challenge is SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE, with neutral colours.

Materials

Upcycled Christmas card
Paper doiley
Studio Calico Classic Calico 2 wood veneer stars
Uniball Signo - Gold gel pen
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! label sticker

12/03/2020 Edit to add: My layout was a winner at Scrap the Girls!

Christmas Green

White... with 1 is going with CHRISTMAS GREEN this month.

This is my take on the challenge:

Materials

DCWV Palms and Ferns patterned papers

Unbranded Maple Leaf cutting die

Not a Christmas theme, but lots of green.

Christmas 2018

It's December, and there are a LOT of Christmas-themed challenges about!

This is the Scrap the Boys challenge prompt:

I focussed on the "joy" part of the prompt.  This is my layout:

Materials

Crafters Choice Rustic Christmas patterned papers
Silver glitter washi tape
Metallic silver machine thread
Bella! Happy Holidays patterned paper
Bella! Happy Holidays die cut tags
Wooden bird button

I used some older Christmas products from my stash,  and dressed it up a bit with some metallic silver accents.

Warmth, Joy, Happiness

This is the final ARTastic Challenge for 2019, showcasing this fun inspiration piece by Australian artist Marg Whyte:

To join the challenge, create a project inspired by the artwork and follow the criteria:  use RIBBON and STARS.

I created a Christmas-themed pocket page:

Materials

Simple Stories Sn@p! Insta-page insert
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Joy patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Santa's Team patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! - Treat patterned paper
Fancy Pants Oh, Deer! label sticker
Glitter foam stars
Metallic gold sewing thread
Satin ribbon scraps

I used an older Fancy Pants Christmas collection for this page, and added satin ribbon and glitter stars as my embellishments. Here are some close-ups:

I'm sharing my layout at Simon Says Wednesday, for the Anything Goes theme.

So Much Fun

I made a double layout today, with lots of sparkle! I don't use embossed or metallic papers much, but these were just the right ones to add interest to an otherwise super-simple page.

Materials

DCWV Palms and Ferns paper stack
DCWV Fairytale Floral paper stack
EK Success Cutter Bee - Flowers cutting dies
The Craft Stall Plywood Craft wood veneer frame

I'm sharing my layout at:

* Scrap Challenge Yourself ~ All About Friends
Some of my work colleagues, who have become great friends!

* Mystical Scrapbooks ~ Journalling
Using the prompts - handwritten journalling, and ruled lines (my lines are hand-drawn)

I spy...

Today I scrapped a photograph of a gorgeous eastern yellow robin, taken a few years ago during one of our national park outings:

Materials

DCWV Palms and Ferns paper stack
Making Memories Paperie - Poolside journalling pages
Wood veneer frame
Mont Marte Metallics - Yellow acrylic paint
American Crafts Thickers - Jewelry Box alphabets

This layout was inspired by:

* Mystical Scrapbooks ~ November monthly challenge ~ Journalling
Find a quote, a phrase from a song or some other special saying to start off your scrapbook journalling.

* Lasting Memories ~ Polka dots
{Hello to the lovely LM ladies!  It's been a while since I joined in a challenge here.} The beautiful piece of textured polka dot cardstock was in my "blue folder" of hoarded paper scraps, and I don't recall what brand it is.  Thanks for the nudge to use up some more of my old patterned paper stash.

Sparkle & Shine

I am always inspired by the challenges at Scrap the Girls - a little bit quirky, and a whole lot challenging!  I was intrigued by this month's inspiration photo:

I scoured my young-adult daughter's Insta account for a suitable photograph, and settled on this one, because it's (1) not too embarrassing and doesn't compromise anyone's reputation, (2) 100% girly and (3) fits the colour scheme of the 'Snow White' meme in the inspiration piece.   So, this is what I came up with:

Materials

DCWV Peri & Peach paper stack
Kaisercraft Wandering Ivy - Blue Fields patterned paper
Kikki K Sparkle & Shine washi tapes
Green Tara 2.5cm Petals - White flowers
Buttons from my habby stash
DMC embroidery thread
Metallic gold sewing thread
Glitz Design Icing - White Rhinestone bling strip

This Hero

Check out this 'super' Scrap the Boys challenge prompt:

I took my inspiration from the 'super hero' theme and the bold primary colours.  This is my layout:

Materials

Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm - Float Away patterned paper
Cocoa Vanilla Flying High - Super Star patterned paper
Bella! Chipz chipboard alphabets

Not much product going on... I allowed the photo take centre stage and let the colours and title do all the heavy lifting! Quick to put together, with some quick and easy fussy-cutting and doodling for fun :)
