Kraft + chaos

I don't mind admitting that I found the Kraft Plus challenge a really tough one this month!

I had an idea what I wanted my layout to look like, and of course it turned out quite different!  This is the beginning of my background, hanging on the clothesline to dry...

This is the final layout:

I took inspiration from the 'chaotic' style of the layout and the celebratory feel.  I used a painted background (with gesso, acrylics and a credit card), random themed words in a starburst pattern, and also included a car.

A long way from my usual kind of page, and a definite challenge for me.

Materials
Kraft cardstock
Kaisercolour Mango acrylic paint
Kaisercolour Navy Blue acrylic paint
Kaisercolour Candy acrylic paint

It's getting harder to get photographs of the teen J-girl these days, so I've taken to swiping pictures from her Facebook profile!

The colours in this layout were inspired by the May challenge at White... with 1:

The design was based on the sketch at Blue Fern Studios.  I used some chipboard pieces from BFS Turkish Bits which I doctored up with white texture paste:

A card, and it's pink...

I've had occasion to send a few cards in the past few months ~ for birthdays, thank you's and farewell gifts.  So it's time to make a few more to have on hand "just in case".

There's a card challenge at Kaisercraft this month... the perfect incentive!  I took inspiration from the mood board and made a feminine card with soft pinks and creams, lace and pearls:

I omitted a sentiment so I can use the card for whatever occasion arises.

I'm also sharing my card at Frilly and Funkie for the Opposites Attract challenge.  Card making is always a departure from my comfort zone; my ratio of scrapbook layouts to cards is something in the order of 98:2 (last year I made 300+ layouts and only 6 cards).  Shabby chic is a style that I attempt only occasionally.

Simon Says Stamp - Work it Wednesday has a FLOWERS theme this month too, so my little card is getting shared around a bit!

Materials
Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden - Magic patterned paper
Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden - Rapture patterned paper
Kaisercraft Vanilla Weave cardstock
Kaisercraft Brown ink
Kaisercraft 3.5cm Cream paper flowers
Kaisercraft Pink flowers (from mixed pack)

I had FUN making this layout... it brought back some happy memories of our 2014 Sydney holiday and the Skywalk adventure at Sydney Tower:

I'm submitting my layout to Charms Creations Emoji challenge - the gorgeous embellishment shines and (with the journalling) expresses so well the silliness of this photo!

I'm joining in at Scrappy Friends for Rochelle's This or That challenge.  I chose BUTTONS.

I'm also sharing at Scrapbook.com for two of the National Scrapbooking Day challenges:
* Selfie Challenge - A silly selfie

Jetty

Another beach layout... I can't get enough of them!

The colour scheme was inspired by the May challenge at Funky Flair Studios:

I added a Funky Flair button:

Over at Archi-scraps the May challenge requirements are layering and something reflective.  I have used lots of subtle layers with the papers, flowers, and journalling strips. I added some dew drops and metallic title for the reflective elements:

I'm also sharing over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge for the favourite places theme.  If I can be a bit generic - I love being anywhere by the sea, particularly if there's a beach to walk on.

Funky Flair Studios Summer Holiday flair
Prima Esprit - Blue flowers
Green Tara Mini Tassel ribbon

Flowers that bloom at midnight

When I saw the Pixels and Paper inspiration photo for this month, I couldn't resist a fun and funky take on the FLOWERS theme. I took my daughter to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art a few years ago, and we loved the Flowers that Bloom at Midnight sculpture installation.  I mixed up the patterns a bit, and used a striped base like the cake in the inspiration photo:

I am sharing my layout at Simon Says Wednesday for the Anything Goes theme.

October Afternoon Sasparilla - Rustler patterned paper
Fancy Pants What a Wonderful Day - Astounding patterned paper
Simple Stories Carpe Diem - Bits & Pieces title die cut
