Inspired by Heidi Swapp

I've been playing along at Scrapping Clearly today - for the 4th July American Artist cybercrop. Each of the six challenges is based on a sketch, with a basic criteria - use some Heidi Swapp products on your creation.  I didn't do the challenges in order.  Mostly I worked through my photo stash to find pics that suited each sketch.  Lots of jumping from project to project!

This one is for my cruise travel journal -

Materials
Heidi Swapp September Skies - Open Air patterned paper
Heidi Swapp September Skies - Alpine Rose patterned paper
Heidi Swapp September Skies - Midnight Shadows patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Dreamy - Pink Dream (reverse side - yellow) patterned paper
Unbranded layered flowers cutting dies
Unbranded satin flowers - lime green
Mini brads
Heidi Swapp Jewels - Martha gem
Heidi Swapp Lemonade Stand - White chipboard alphabets
Washi tape

+ + + + + + + + +

This one is for my Cairns trip album.  I've gone back and edited the title on this layout - it's actually Malanda Hotel.

Materials
Heidi Swapp September Skies - Meadow Bloom patterned paper
Heidi Swapp September Skies - Open Air patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Dreamy - Choose Happy patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Dreamy - Dreams Come True patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Dreamy - Pink Dream patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Dreamy - Ticket to Ride patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Label Holder - Jet chipboard
Baker's twine

I really loved the banner detail on the sketch - perfect for using up lots of small scraps and mix-matching patterns.

SOUL SURVIVOR - July

Soul Scrappers is celebrating the site's 10th anniversary in 2020, with a SURVIVOR-themed year long challenge.  It's modelled on the reality tv show, except there will be no eliminations.  I've signed up and I will be sharing my creations on my blog.

** Participants can sign up all year - and there's also a random element so everyone has a chance to earn points and win some scrappy prizes **

The July challenge theme is TREES.  I have so many suitable photos to fit the theme, but I settled on a simple double page layout:

Materials
Basic Grey Aged & Confused - Sublime patterned papers
Basic Grey Eerie - Mummy patterned paper
Fancy Pants Childish Things - Playtime patterned paper
Becky Higgins Project Life - Jade Edition patterned paper
Bazzill Basics Fourz - Granny Smith cardstock

For the palm tree requirement, I made my own trees from patterned paper scraps.  This is where my colour-coded ziplock bags come into their own!  Reach for the 'green' bag... and rummage!!

ARTastic in July

ARTastic Challenge has a fantastic inspiration piece this month, a woodblock print by Australian artist Thea Proctor:

The challenge is to be inspired by the artwork, and include the monthly criteria; for July - use PEN.  This is my layout:

Materials
Staedtler Triplus Fineliner 0.4mm - Dark Brown journalling pen
Unbranded alphabet stencil
Printed tissue paper
Stampology Tim Holtz - Tiles layering stencil

I took my inspiration from the heritage fashions in the photograph, and scrapped some photographs of a heritage-listed building. Lots of penwork on this layout - stencils, handwritten journalling, and the doodling was just for fun :)  I used a dark brown 0.44mm Staedtler fineliner - beautiful to write and draw with, smooth and blot-free, and dries immediately with no smudges.  Tip: A children's lettering stencil is a cheap and easy way to make a title :)

I'm sharing my layout at Simon Says Wednesday, for the Anything Goes theme.
