Life is Beauty

This one is for D-lish Scraps / The Scrap Suite - DIY Colour  challenge:

Materials
DCWV Palms & Ferns patterned papers
Project Life card {RAK gift}
Grant Studio stamps
Vintage book paper
Ranger Dylusions - Fresh Lime ink spray
Tsukineko Stazon - Black ink
Kaisercolour Miss Nelly jewels

What I did for this challenge:  I used ink spray to colour a vintage book page. I really like how the old paper soaks up the colour so quickly.  Then I stamped a butterfly and some flowers onto the coloured paper with Stazon ink, and fussy-cut the images:

I did an online search and found the poem that this title comes from:

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realise it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfil it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Numerous sources attribute the poem to Mother Teresa, however her 'official' website states it is a false attribution. Regardless of the poet, the words are beautiful!

Night Out

This is my take on the October challenge at White... with 1.  The colour this month is ELEPHANT GREY:

Materials
Martha Stewart Garden Trellis deep edge punch
Prima Nieve - White layered flowers
Unbranded white flowers
Portacraft EVA foam - Glitter alphabet stickers
Sam & Lucy Weave Extras - Clear Bling gems
Buttons
Metallic string
D-lish Scraps Just Add Paper - Rustic Charm kit items - resin flowers, suede tassel

This challenge made me think outside the box a bit, because I don't have much grey paper in my stash. I decided to use some cardboard packaging (a cereal box) for the main grey element in my layout, and dress it up with an edge punch. I also pulled apart some scrapbook packaging (from a pack of Bella! Bling) in lieu of patterned paper.  After that, the other small embellishments didn't look so lonely!

ARTastic in October

What a wonderful inspiration piece at ARTastic Challenge this month:

As always, the challenge is to create a project inspired by the artwork.  The October requirement is MONOCHROMATIC.

After wavering between green and brown for this layout, I finally settled on monochromatic brown tones.

Materials
Studio Calico Classic Calico 3 - Dotted patterned paper
Cre8tiv Designer Paper - Eco patterned paper
Technique Tuesday Hometown - Lowercase alphabet dies
Prima E-Line - Brown flowers
Prima Wild & Free flowers
Brown/cream gingham ribbon
Buttons from my habby stash
Martha Stewart Arch Lattice decorative edge punch
Marianne Designs Creatables - Bird on Branch cutting die

The peacock in the inspiration piece prompted me to add a bird to the design:

I'm sharing my layout at Simon Says Monday for the Monochrome theme.
