Waiting for the Tooth Fairy

This is a fun one that I did for a challenge over at Scrapbook Divas. Rach Merrick set a cybercrop challenge to create a layout using blue, pink and purple, with three circles:

I used some of my old Chatterbox paper and some of the Maya Road round frames I received in my RAK from Caroline Lau.

Sketch layout

This is just a quick one I did based on Pencil Lines Sketch #41:

Online Retreat

This weekend I have been scrapping with the CISters at the CIS Online Retreat... a whole week of classes, workshops and challenges.

First, the homework - my name tag which had to include the flowers in my retreat access kit:

On Friday night I did a single page layout class with Jolene... of course my finished result looks totally different! I just love how you can take a sample and some instructions and personalise it to make it your own. This is my layout:

Saturday was a workshop by Jolene on creating a DVD cover. This is my take on the class, using some old Delish papers and a photograph taken by my own little photographer-in-training:

And today I did a 'Power Scrapping' workshop with Kaz - two layouts in an hour, using Daisy D's tags and whatever old papers we could find in our stash. Well, mine took a tad longer than that (1 hour, 25 minutes)- but I'm a slow scrapper.

Chook-scrapping

I did a few of the challenges over at Chook Scraps July Cybercrop on the weekend.

Challenge 1 - Blue/brown colour combo, circles, and stitching:

Challenge 2 - Large photograph, curves, two patterned papers, flowers:

Back to Reality - the first two weeks

I decided to have a go at the "Back to Reality" competition over at Scrap World... and so far I've completed two layouts. I was a bit worried I wouldn't quite 'get' the challenges, but it's been great so far ~ no prior knowledge or understanding of reality television required. The rules say I can't post my layouts on my blog, but I can link to the gallery. This is what I've done so far:

Week 1: Project Runway
Use fabric on a layout
Grandma's Flowers

Week 2: Survivor
Use only basic supplies - cardstock, patterned paper, ribbon, alphas, chipboard, pens.

Sk8r Girl

Over at Scrap with V, Kerry issued a challenge to create a layout based on one of Becky Fleck's sketches. This is my interpretation:

Mail art...

... arrived today. I am doing a 'mail art' swap over at Bon's Scraps - one a week for nine weeks. Today I received the most devine mail from Leah. Thank you!!

"Be very afraid..."

These are some of the layouts I created for the Crafting in Style Friday 13th cyber crop on the weekend.

Challenge 1 - Use metal, masking and fibres:

Challenge 2 - Black and red, at least three photos, and "critters":

Couldn't help myself, just had to do another double. I went for at least a year without creating any doubles, and now I'm getting back into them again. A great way to get more of my photographs off the computer and onto layouts.

And just a few close ups of my "critters" - I've had these cute brads for a while. I'm sure I received them as a RAK but can't remember who sent them to me. Thank you!!

I love the Scenic Route paper and those Autumn Leaves stamps. I borrowed the stamps and stamped out a few when I was cropping with the CISters a few weeks back... and I think I used them all up on this layout!! Another item for my wishlist.

Kits

I'm having fun creating a few layout kits for Vanessa at Scrap with V. These are some of the layouts for July - the kits come with product as well as step-by-step, full colour instructions.

Layout share

This is a layout I did for the Crafting in Style 'Stylish Monthly Challenges':

This one is based on Jolene's sketch, using lots of leftover bits from my stash:

Inspired by colour

Today I treated myself to some watercolour pencils. In May at the scrapbooking retreat, Kathie Link showed me how to use them... and I just love the impact of even small amounts of colour. Now I have some of my own :)

Joy

I haven't blogged much in the last week and a half, but I have been creating heaps!

This is a layout I did for fun last week, using the funky Junkitz rub-ons that Jolene sent me for a photo challenge prize. I just love the colours. The Bazzill cardstock is called "Bahama" and it's one of my new favourite colours. I used my last sheet though, so I've added it to my wishlist.

Over at Bons Scraps, Fran set a challenge to use 'white space' and journalling strips and this fit the criteria perfectly. That challenge is over now so I've put it into the July gallery over at Crafting in Style. Jolene has set a "no chippies and no blossoms" challenge. I don't do many layouts lately with no flowers!

Sunday cropping

... was heaps of fun!!

Even with the distractions of Liz's delicious mudslide coffees and homemade chocolate muffins and all the lively conversation, I completed some layouts.

These are a few of the 8x8 layouts for my St Helena album:

And I also completed a double 12x12 for one of the Crafting in Style monthly challenges. I used some more of my "panning" practice photographs:

Inspired by music

I've always found music inspiring... so often lyrics and song titles describe the moment so perfectly. These are some of my creations for the Scrap World "Music Makes the World Go Round" challenge.

I had to create a layout that was inspired by my favourite CD cover. This is it:

This is the CD cover that inspired my layout:

(Chanson
was a Queensland trio performing beautiful music on cello, harp and flute. Two of the members are now part of the musical trio, Carisma.)

And this is my layout inspired by song lyrics:
