I'm loving yellow... and I created another layout for our January day tripping album:

Remember this day

My layout was inspired by two challenges:

* More Than Words - SMILE + SKETCH:

This photo makes me smile because it brings back memories of a fun, relaxing day out on the north coast.

* JOT Magazine - Mood board

I 'm really happy with how this layout turned out.  I started with the paint and a piece of pizza mesh - and did a combination of stamping and masking.  I used up some paper offcuts and some miscellaneous embellishments and punches that came in a recent prize pack, and then I chose my title.   Last, the stitching.  My layouts have to have stitching!

Materials
Kaisercolour Yellow acrylic paint
Cosmo Cricket Material Girl - Calico patterned paper
Becky Higgins Project Life - Jade Edition patterned paper
Dusty Attic Mini Captions 2 chipboard title
Green Tara 4cm Petals - White paper flower
Green Tara 1.75cm Petals - Beige paper flower

Something a bit different...

My layout theme was inspired by:
* Lasting Memories ~ Snakes and Ladders
* Simon Says Monday ~ Flora/Fauna

The photograph was taken on my front patio - a surprise visitor one evening.  My initial fear was that this snake was an Eastern Brown (highly venomous) but further research revealed it was just a tree snake... one of the many species of wildlife we experience when living in this part of the world!

Materials
Bazzill Basics Smoothies - Blackberry Swirl cardstock
Cosmo Cricket Material Girl - Calico patterned paper

Summer

It's mid-winter here, and I'm hiding indoors to keep warm.  Still scrapping summer layouts, though...

I took inspiration from two challenges for this one.

Scrap Our Stash:

The theme of my layout is 'going places' - our dog Jess loves outings, and the beach is a definite favourite.  I have used five patterned papers in the block on the left.  The round embellishments are the flair, and the pearls.

Scrappy Friends - This or That:  I used paper clips.

What I love about these challenges is the stash-busting element - looking at my supplies with fresh eyes, or reaching for items I haven't thought about for a while. Fun!

Materials
Becky Higgins Project Life - Jade Edition patterned papers (2)
Cosmos Cricket Circa 1934 - Garbo patterned paper(both sides)
Echo Park Victoria Gardens - Blooming Blossoms patterned paper
Paper clips x2
Creative Embellishments Summer flair
Petaloo Mulberry Street - Color Me Crazy white embossed daisy
Bazzill Basics Bitty Blossoms - Apple flowers

Grafton

The July White with a Twist challenge at Scrapping Outback is another fun one ~ white with lilac, light blue and a touch of grey.

As always, this challenge also requires use of chipboard.  I altered my bird with ink and heat embossing:

Echo Park For the Record 2 - Doily patterned paper (fussy cut)
Washi tape
WOW You Amaze Me chipboard bird

Kraft + sheet music

I'm joining in at Kraft Plus this month, using the above mood board for inspiration.  I made a card:

I started by dabbing some gesso on the card face, and when it dried I added a light paint wash with Twinkling H2O's.  Then I painted up a little corrugated cardboard tag to mount on top, with some hand-drawn layered flowers.  I haven't decided yet whether to use this as a thank you card, or a birthday card, so I'm leaving it without a sentiment.

Materials
Bazzill Basics Kraft cardstock
Vintage sheet music
LuminArte Twinkling H2Os - Pink Grapefruit watercolour
Kaisercolour Candy acrylic paint
Imagine Crafts Creative Medium - Metallic Gold paste
Uniball Signo - Gold gel pen
Gold stationery brads

Sunday scrapping (Part 1)

It's been a while since I had a free Sunday to just sit and create... and so far I've done two layouts.  I've optimistically titled my post "Part 1" because I hope to have at least a "Part 2" by the end of the day!

I love the sketch at Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia this month.  This is what I created:

I've been wanting to scrap this photo of Jess for a while, and the circles in the sketch seemed a perfect match to the ball in her mouth!  I started with a bit of bubblewrap stamping for the background, and then jumped straight into my bag of green/blue paper scraps to build up the layers.

Materials
Kaisercolour Navy Blue acrylic paint
Prima E-line product packaging
Spellbinders Frameabilities - Polka Dot die cut
Core'dinations Teal Blues - Deep Lagoon cardstock
Crate Paper Shine - Cherish patterned paper
Basic Grey Serenade - Peacock patterned paper

#########################

I adore the beautiful inspiration picture at ARTastic this month, with the challenge criteria of a COUNTRY/RURAL THEME:

I must admit, I have hundreds of photos that fit the bill for this theme! For this layout I kept it super simple, taking inspiration from the rural scenery and the muted colours:

Upcycled atlas page
Kaisercraft Pickled Pear - Chartreuse patterned paper
Glitz Teeny Alpha - Mint Grunge letter stickers
Prima Botanical Mix - English Garden mini flowers

Guest designing

I was happy to be invited as a guest designer for Mystical Scrapbooks this month.  These are the products I was given to create with:

And the reverse side of the papers:

I decided to scrap some photographs from a December day trip, and for something different, I used a 4x4 pocket album.

I was excited to make my very first SNAPGUIDE presentation which features pictures of my mini album project, and some tips and tricks too.  (Click on the Snapguide logo to view in full size.)

Check out How to Make a 4x4 Mini Album by KAREN BRIERLEY on Snapguide.

I'm also setting the first monthly challenge for July, so check out the Mystical Scrapbooks blog for details!

I saved the first page of my mini album for sharing on my own blog, and here it is:

I'm submitting this to Simon Says Wednesday for the Anything Goes challenge.

Materials
Kaisercraft Time Machine - Gears patterned paper
Gold/Kraft decorative tape

Cold, grey, beautiful

Mid-winter and I'm definitely feeling the cold this year.  I'm NOT a fan of winter... but I do love the inspiration picture at Pixels and Paper this month, and the criteria of a WINTER theme:

This is my layout:

I took inspiration from the grey and white tones, and from the ocean. The photographs were taken during a short winter vacation in 2013.

I'm also sharing my layout at Simon Says Wednesday, for the Anything Goes theme.

Becky Higgins Project Life - Jade Edition patterned papers
Bella! journalling card
Jenni-Anne's Jewels satin blossoms
