Over at Mystical Scrapbooks, Donna challenged us to complete an un-finished object (UFO) by the end of the month. I started with this:
I have a small collection of these coffee capsule boxes and I've found them a very useful size for sorting bits and pieces. My original intention was to make a little tabletop craft caddy to keep the kitchen table a bit tidier when I create (ha!!) However, partway through the process, my plans were hijacked by a very convincing teenage daughter...
This is how it turned out:
And a little closeup of the front:
It was a good project to use up some older stash, and to finally finish one of those UFOs that has been taunting me for a few months. I will, however need to go back to the drawing board and make a craft caddy for myself! I still have an impressive pile of boxes to work though...
I'd like to submit my project at Simon Says Wednesday for the Anything Goes theme..
Materials:
Basic Grey Blush - Angelic patterned paper
Green Tara 10cm Petals - Dark Chocolate paper flower
Green Tara 10cm Petals - Salmon paper flower
Bazzill Bitty Blossoms - Arroyo flower
Kraft washi
Chipboard alphabet negatives
Button
Bobby pins

Keep calm and get texty!
Yet another layout for the January 2014 album... recording our family activities for the end of summer. I'm so thrilled with the way this one came together:
First, I created my own background using texture paste, tinted with acrylic paint. I'm sharing the technique for Team Training over at the Pixels and Paper challenge blog today.
Next I layered it up with some paper scraps and a bit of pen work, added the photographs, and then made my own title card. I played around in Photoshop Elements with a lot of fonts, sizes and positioning until I got it just how I wanted.
I'm joining in at these challenges:
* Scrap Challenge Yourself ~ Keep calm and...
* Mixed Media Monthly Challenge ~ Get Texty
* Scrapki Wyzwaniowo ~ Typesetting
Materials:
Making Memories Scrapbook Colors - Ocean Blue acrylic paint
My Memories Chevrons - Teal patterned paper
Dear Lizzy Spring - Glitter Accents - Beehive Brunch patterned paper
Bazzill Basics - Tropical cardstock
Carl Daisy - Small punch

Scrap the Girls
I love the colours in the August Scrap the Girls challenge. I took inspiration from the coral, off-white and gold highlights.
I was also inspired by the challenge at Mystical Scrapbooks to scrap a story and photograph about yourself. This is the only photograph I have of myself from when I was presented with an award at my local rural fire brigade, and I thought it was time to scrap it! {The "trophy" is a silver-dipped drip torch which belonged to one of our brigade's founding members.}
Materials:
Making Memories Fifth Avenue - Elizabeth Berry patterned paper
MAMBI Mixed Media patterned paper
Elle's Studio Serendipity Tidbits diecuts
Crate Paper Maggie Holmes - Flea Market photo overlay
May Arts Royal Blue 3/8" grosgrain ribbon

{Cake}
How fun is this inspiration pic at Scrapbooking Top 50 Australia?
I was a bit stumped at first, because I was focussing on the hot pink and triangles. But then I looked past the colours and thought about the theme, and I remembered a photograph I took of the tiered cake from J-girl's Year 7 graduation... and this is what I created:
Materials:
Echo Park Victoria Gardens - Rose patterned paper
My Memories Chevrons - Teal patterned paper
Making Memories Fifth Avenue journalling page
American Crafts Thickers - Sprinkles vinyl alphabets
Martha Stewart Floral Lace decorative edge punch
Prima E-line - Green flowers
EK Success Retro Flower - Medium punch
EK Success Retro Flower - Small punch
LuminArte Twinkling H2Os - Mediterranean watercolour paint
Kaisercraft Rhinestones - Turquoise
Portacraft glitter foam stars

Another road trip
I love this beautiful art prompt at ARTastic this month:
The challenge requirement is to make the background a feature.
What I did: I started out by applying a thick layer of texture paste over the centre of the cardstock, then 'stamped' into it with an embossing folder. I really love the subtle pattern that shows through:
When it was dry, I added a little doodling around the title and edges. Then I remembered a little embroidered owl that I've had in my habby-stash for many years... just the right finishing touch!
Here's my layout:
I'm also sharing my layout at:
* Kelly's Scrappy Friends - Word challenge (I used road and trip)
* Clique Kits - Anything Goes
Materials:
Bazzill Basics cardstock
Provocraft Cuttlebug - Floral Fantasy embossing folder
MFT Die-namics - Little Letters alphabet dies
Recycled kraft paper envelope
Washi tape
Buttons
Embroidered emblem
Paper clips

Something for Jess
... well, kind of. I've been meaning to make a feeding calendar to put on the fridge, and I finally did it:
I was inspired by the August challenge at Kraft Plus... using a kraft background and zentangling. I thought this would be a fun project to practise hand lettering. I'm not very confident at freehand shapes, but I had a lot of fun with my black finepoint marker, glitter gel pens and coloured pencils! Here's some close-ups ~
The little arrow also has a magnet on the back, and it is moved each day after Jess has been fed.

Sand monitor
I'm never sure exactly how to scrap wildlife photos, so I was pretty happy with how this one came together:
I was inspired by the challenge at Achiscraps to use something clear. I used some Heidi Swapp ghost shape flowers:
I'd also like to join in over at Scrap Our Stash for the stash challenge:
P - pink flowers
A - acetate flowers
P - Prima alphabets
E - Enchanted Garden paper
R - Recorded Collection paper
09/08/2015 edit to add: I've had some lovely comments from US visitors to my blog, so I thought I'd add a bit more information! In Australia we commonly call this kind of creature a goanna. My layout title "sand monitor" is a generic term for a couple of different kinds of goanna that are found across outback Australia, including Gould's Monitor (I am not a biologist so I can't tell the difference). They have the beautiful red/brown/sandy colouring to blend with their environment. YES, they roam free, and they are a bit scary looking! They grow to around 2m (6ft) long and can run quite fast.
At home on our semi-rural property we have goannas too - but they are lace monitors. They are a different colour (dark grey/brown). They can grow just as big (and can be just as scary looking!) The biggest problem is that they get into the chicken enclosure and steal our eggs!
Materials:
Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden - Entrance patterned paper
Websters Pages Allison Kreft - Recorded patterned paper
Heidi Swapp Ghost Shapes - Flowers acetate flowers
Kaisercraft pink flowers
Prima Meadowlark textured canvas alphabets
Bella! Sarah-Jane - Narratives journalling card
Buttons
Kraft envelope
