Dressing for Christmas

Over at Scrap the Girls, It's All In the Dress for Christmas, with this fun inspiration board:

I was drawn to the dark green dress with the Santa motifs, because of the strong colour scheme. I used a traditional Christmas red/green colour theme for my layout, going heavier on the green:

Materials
Scenic Route Salem - Boardman Street patterned paper
Bella! Happy Holidays patterned paper
My Mind's Eye Transfer Titles 2 - Christmas rub-on
Cocoa Vanilla 'Tis the Season sequins
Uniball Signo - Gold gel pen
Felt embellishment {recycled from a Christmas card}

I don't have much in the way of Christmas scrapbooking products, so I raided my old stash again for this layout.  I added sequins for sparkle - difficult to photograph, but very pretty in real life:

I'm also sharing my layout at The Sketchy Challenges this month for the Christmas theme.

Define "naughty"

I suppose it's inevitable that December scrap challenges will be all about Christmas... so I've printed out a few Christmas photographs to scrap.  Over at Scrap the Boys, the theme is Naughty or Nice? ~ what a fun take on Christmas!

Materials
Scenic Route Salem - Boardman Street patterned paper
Pink Paislee Office Lingo - Outside the Box patterned paper
Printed tissue paper
Ranger Dylusions - Fresh Lime ink spray
Cocoa Vanilla 'Tis the Season sequins
Journal stamp {borrowed at a crop}
Shaped paper clips

I used a bunch of 'old stuff' from my stash for this one, and I'm thrilled with how it came together.

EDIT TO ADD:  My layout received an 'honourable mention' at Scrap the Boys.

Xmas 2016

This is the prompt for the December ARTastic Challenge

The challenge is to create a project inspired by the artwork, and this month's requirement is a Christmas theme.

I created a double page layout, using some homemade Christmas tree embellishments:

Materials
Studio Calico Classic Calico 3 - Chain patterned paper
Authentique Retro Christmas - Two patterned paper
Bo Bunny Country Garden - Charm patterned paper
American Crafts Thickers - Rootbeer Float foam alphabets

As the inspiration picture featured an owl, I added a little bird to my layout (cut from a teabag wrapper):

I also used an old Christmas card, and made my own Christmas tree embellishments from corrugated card, sequins and trim:

I'm sharing my layout at Simon Says Wednesday for the ANYTHING GOES theme.

Lunch Date

This layout was inspired by the November Colour Challenge at Anna's Craft Cupboard.

Materials
Cocoa Vanilla Love Always - Bouquet patterned paper
Sam & Lucy Weave Extras - Bling rhinestones & rhinestone strips
Unbranded paper flowers
Product packaging
Making Memories Noteworthy die cut journal spot
Coloured doily

I'm sharing my layout at:

I couldn't resist the Lego brick theme!

* STAMPlorations ~ November Mixed Media

Another wonderful inspiration piece at ARTastic Challenge this month:

Halloween inspiration

We don't "do" Halloween at our place, but it's fun to create some Halloween-inspired pages.  This is the inspiration image for the October Soul Scrappers Mystery Bag Challenge:

I included a skull, bats, and book page:

Materials
Bazzill Basics Smoothies - Blackberry Swirl cardstock
Basic Grey Eerie - Poison patterned paper
Kaisercolour The Looking Glass embossed specialty paper
Basic Grey Bling It flourish
Prima Everyday Vintage flair button
Vintage book paper
Ranger Dylusions - Fresh Lime ink spray

Life is Beauty

This one is for D-lish Scraps / The Scrap Suite - DIY Colour  challenge:

Materials
DCWV Palms & Ferns patterned papers
Project Life card {RAK gift}
Grant Studio stamps
Vintage book paper
Ranger Dylusions - Fresh Lime ink spray
Tsukineko Stazon - Black ink
Kaisercolour Miss Nelly jewels

What I did for this challenge:  I used ink spray to colour a vintage book page. I really like how the old paper soaks up the colour so quickly.  Then I stamped a butterfly and some flowers onto the coloured paper with Stazon ink, and fussy-cut the images:

I did an online search and found the poem that this title comes from:

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realise it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfil it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Numerous sources attribute the poem to Mother Teresa, however her 'official' website states it is a false attribution. Regardless of the poet, the words are beautiful!
