Flowers, anyone?

I'm joining in at Scrap the Boys for their fun January theme, Who says you can't use flowers on a boy layout?  

I've never had a problem using flowers on masculine layouts; this time around the biggest challenge for me was to find some photographs to scrap!  I went back through my "must-scrap-the-last-few-photos-and-finish-this-album" pile of photos, and found these ones.  The busy floral background  won't appeal to everyone, but I really like it!

Cairns catch-up

Hot, hot, hot outside, so I'm doing a spot of scrapping, indoors, in the air-con. Today I'm using some online challenge inspiration to add a few more double pages to my Cairns travel album.

How awesome is the Kraft Plus prompt this month??  I love kraft and I love all things coffee... so I had to join in!

I took the inspiration very literally, with a coffee-themed page. I cut up a coffee cup wrapper, and kept the whole thing super simple to let the patterned kraft shine.

This is my take on the challenge at A2Z Scraplets this month. The theme is 'Reuse/ Repurpose/ Recycle'. I used a vintage book page, paper scraps from other projects, and a local council notification card that came in the mail. I also used the negative from A2Z Scraplets Cog Set 3 as part of the background.

Back to scrapping...

I had the BEST time at the Scrap Boutique retreat in Coffs Harbour, and I kicked my scrapping back into gear in the company of a bunch of fun, fabulous ladies :)  It's been a few months since I did any serious scrapping... and it was just what I needed to find my groove again.

I knew I wanted to use lots of kraft for the J-girl's fire cadet event photographs, so I turned to Kraft Plus for some inspiration:

My first impressions were the woodgrain, and the minimalist feel of the room.  Next I noticed the plates in the background..

A little scrapping

It's been one of those months - lots going on at home and work, with an 'unhealthy' dose of winter illness thrown into the mix. Not a lot of time for crafting, unfortunately. Birthday card

A birthday card for a friend:

There's a bit of a story to this one... it's a 70th birthday card for a fellow member of my rural fire brigade.  The photo is a 1947 Dodge (friend born in 1947 and loves trucks) and the backing fabric is from an old pair of fire fighting overalls.
