How awesome are the colours??  The extra criteria this month is to use PAINT.  I used watered-down acrylics and a pipette to create my background.

Sweet, simple

A super fun layout that I'm totally in love with...



These are the challenges that inspired my layout, and how:

First, a new challenge for 2016... More Than Words:

The selfie takes centre stage on the layout, I think! {The photograph is a selfie that I took with my daughter at the Brisbane Ekka in August last year. }  As for personality, I think the quote sums up mine pretty well.  I like the simple things in life.  I'm a low-key kind of girl.  I'm not into drama.  I'm shy, but I love to have fun with my family.

The Shabby Tea Room Winter Wonderland challenge featured this inspiration picture:

I chose predominantly light blue & white papers for my layout, and the photograph features a winter event in my city. {In Brisbane, August usually brings the cold westerly winds, which arrive just in time for Ekka!}

Paper Sweeties January challenge is another inspiration picture:

This picture prompt had me reaching for my washi tape to add the additional aqua colour and some snowflake shaped gems and silver thread to add winter-y elements to my layout:

A touch of gold

Joining in at Mystical Scrapbooks for their final challenge of the year ~ Document something that makes you or a family member happy:



J-girl loves animals of all kinds, evident by the numerous photographs I've taken of her with creatures of all shapes and sizes!  She is drawn to animals and seems to make an instant connection.

I was also inspired by the challenge at Mixed Media Monthly, where the theme is Silver and Gold:

This was a fun and easy layout, but it took a few days to create because I had to wait for each layer to dry.  First layer - lots of gesso.  Then a layer of vintage book pages, followed by another thin layer of gesso. Next, two layers of Color Shine.  Here's a close up of the gorgeous gold:

Cadets Survival Kit

It's that time of year again...

This is the inspiration picture at Pixels and Paper this month:

and this is my layout:



I took my inspiration from the Christmas theme.  I don't have many special Christmas photos left un-scrapped, so I dug deep and found some shots from a 2012 Christmas party at our local fire brigade.  I created a photo montage, and (hopefully) added some interest with the felt decorations and stitching.
