Sharing some August inspiration ~ the latest challenge at ARTastic:

The criteria is 'something that flies' - either in the photograph or embellishments.

I focussed on the vibrant colour and a mode of flying transport - and this prompted me to create a page for my 2017 travel journal.  Layouts don't need to be complicated to be meaningful!

Little Bay

I love the ocean, and I am always drawn to small, secluded beaches when I travel.  As a result, I have hundreds of beach photographs in my collection, and quite a few bags of shells, sea glass and tiny pieces of driftwood.  These kind of little keepsakes are more meaningful to me than fancy store-bought souvenirs.

I really enjoyed putting this layout together and it brought back memories of a very special winter holiday break in 2014:

I chose a fun 'scribble' style chipboard frame for my coloured photograph, and I added a stitched border around the outside of my layout.

I had to research the term 'colour blocking' to make sure I was on the right track.  I really like how this turned out; for this simple design technique I needed to add very little to the page to make it complete.
* Unstampabelles ~ Fancy frame or border
I chose some scrolled chipboard corners to frame the colour block, and hand-written border journalling (lyrics).
