The November challenge challenge is a Christmas card, with a twist: Add Santa on the beach or on an island.

My biggest dilemma was how to make a Santa. I got my inspiration from a free finger puppet pattern by One Creative Mommy. I started out intending to make a felt Santa, but my creative meanderings took me down a different path. I modified the design heavily to use paper scraps with just a touch of felt, and to bring Santa down to a beachwear state of undress!
I tossed around ideas for Santa in a row boat, swim-ring, surfing (a very popular Aussie Christmas card theme) and even skydiving onto the beach... but I kept it simple with Santa wading on the water's edge, which is mostly what I do when I go to the beach. I staged Santa onto an easel fold card, and made a beach scene using different patterned papers for the sand, water and sky.
