Chickens

It's been a while since I scrapped our chickens and ducks, so I printed out some pics this week to play around with.

The design of this one was inspired by the Tickets & Tags challenge at The Scrap Suite cyber crop:

Materials
Becky Higgins Project Life - Clementine patterned paper
My Mind's Eye My Girl - Bouquet patterned paper
Prima Wild & Free flowers
Value Craft Soft Pink Spotted satin flowers
Pretty Little Studio Beautiful Day - Happy Tickets die cut tags
Buttons

& & & & & & &

And another.  I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a while, because Goldie was one of our favourite girls.  She was very pretty and friendly (and sadly, no longer with us).

Materials
Basic Grey Blush - Milk Chocolate patterned paper
(unknown brand) floral patterned paper
Unbranded flowers
Chic Tags Autumn Days - Tabbed ATC journal tags
Cheery Lynn Chicks cutting dies

I'm sharing this one at:
* Scrap Our Stash ~ Golden Globe challenge
Create a layout about your pet or any other animal... AND include an animal embellishment.
* Dies R Us ~ Birds
* Unstampabelles ~ 1 2 3 challenge
There are no stamps.  I used: 1 photograph, 2 flowers, 3 chicks along the base of the photograph... AND share the journey while making your creation.
I built my layout from the bottom up. I started with the background colour - I knew I wanted a dark brown and the Basic Grey was my first choice.  Stash-busting old papers is always a bonus! I was leaning towards monochromatic, but I had the floral strip leftover from another project and it seemed to work, so I used it.  This is the first time I've used the chicken dies - they were a prize from Unstampabelles. I finished off my layout with a doodled border - I do that a lot on my layouts.

I didn't have any cream cardstock, so I cut the chick embellishments from upcycled cardboard packaging:

11/06/2018 Edit to add:  This layout was chosen as DT favourite at Unstampabelles!

  2. Oh my, your layouts make me smile ☺. Until we got chickens on our small hobby farm, I never would have guessed what fun pets they are. I thought that people giving their chickens names was kind of silly. Now mine have names such as Zelda, Mama, Gisele, Summer, Valentine,... I'm now one of those crazy chicken ladies ☺.
    I love both pages. The light, pretty colours on the first one go really well with the photos. The stitching detail and the flowers are beautiful touches.
    The darker background on the second page match your beautiful Goldie. Love the little chick dies, and the pretty flowers. Great job! TFS.
