Our Christmas

I don't have a lot of Christmas photographs which remain unscrapped, but I really wanted to join in the WOW Triple Treat Challenge!  So... it's not the best photograph, but it is a fun memory from Christmas 2014:

I used two of the chipboard pieces that WOW sent me.  I inked, then heat embossed to add some shine and texture:

Walk beside me

This challenge at Off the Rails:

... inspired me to create this layout:

It turned out a lot plainer than I expected, considering the time that went into the background work, but the creative process was very relaxing.

I had decided it was time again to purge my smaller scraps, starting with these ones:

Then I got happy with gesso:

After that I inked one page with lots of fluid chalk ink.  {The other page is a for a future project.}  I doodled around the edges, and layered up some more scraps and photographs.

Materials:
Autumn Leaves For the Record journalling stamp
ColorBox Catseye Queue - Creamy Brown fluid chalk ink
ColorBox Catseye Queue - Chocolate Roan fluid chalk ink
Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type alphabet stickers

Dem bones...

I'm getting braver with mixed media, and making an effort to be a bit more adventurous each month, even if it's just for one or two layouts.

Over at Mixed Media Monthly, the October challenge is really fun!

I have chosen BONES, ORANGE and BLACK to incorporate into my layout.

I'm also playing along at Creative Embellishments with the Halloween themed picture and the addition of something metal.

So... this is what I did ~

1>  I stencilled all over the patterned paper with texture paste:

2> When it was dry, I brushed on some bright orange acrylic paint:

3>  I assembled my layout,  then inked up a CE chipboard shape and added some metal keys:

And this is my finished layout:

Mystical Scrapbooks is hosting a Tic Tac Toe challenge this month, and I'm joining in with the criteria of STENCIL + PAINT + CHIPBOARD.

Good times

I've been using a few flairs lately ~ who knew they could become an addiction??

This layout is for the October challenge at Funky Flair Studio ~ using GREY + LACE + any FUNKY FLAIR.  I used a flair from the Creative Splats collection.

A touch of mixed media in this layout, for the Anything Goes challenge at That Craft Place.  I created the grey background by applying a light layer of gesso over some older patterned papers. I really like the muted effect and the light grainy texture that gesso gives too.

The addition of a vintage book page was inspired by the challenge at  LESSology.  The theme is It's Reading Time.  I love using book pages on my layouts - sometimes the little bit of text, or the aged paper appearance, is just what I'm looking for.  I source my old books from op-shops or the Lifeline Bookfest ~ a wonderful way to upcycle!

23/10/2015 EDIT TO ADD:  Happy to be in the Top 3 at LESSology!

Pixels and Paper - October DT Reveal

It's a very striking inspiration picture at Pixels and Paper this month:

Sadly, I've never been to London... so I thought I would scrap a photograph of Brisbane City Hall and its beautiful clock tower.  I also included some gold tones which I can see in Big Ben, and a clock embellishment, of course!

{I never seem to get metallic alphabets to show when photographing flat layouts... this is the true colour of the gold embellishments:}

I'm submitting my layout at Simon Says Wednesday for the Anything Goes theme.
