I have a photo like that. I kept putting off scrapping it because I couldn't get anything to work. I tried various Photoshop edits, including black & white, but the bw actually made it look more mundane... I tried various colour combos. I tried different papers and layout styles... I almost gave up. I ran out of ideas.
This week I committed to scrapping the photograph and sharing the result. I'm still not happy with it (or my layout, really, to be truthful). But if I am to grow as a scrapbooker I think I need to faithfully record all of my creations and hopefully learn something from the experience.
I love joining in at Show Us Your Stuff because I love using handmade embellishments on my layouts.
This is the inspiration picture this month:
I was inspired by the colours, circles and layers, the single purple flower.

The handmade items are the crochet trim from Lime Tree Creations, and my handcut hearts from the leftover embossed cardstock.

Firstly. don't be so hard on yourself, I think you've done a great job! I think that green trim from LTC was a great choice of embellishment, it really pops.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question about what do I do with a photo that is a bit "blah", but has an important memory attached to it? Scrap it anyway and have fun! (I have done many imperfect photos.) Just make sure you journal the important details! (In years to come, people won't care what paper or embellishments you used - they will only care to look at the photo and read what you wrote.) Thanks for playing along at SUYS. :)
Lovely page! Great choice of handmade embellies :) I scrap photos whatever they look like ... they don't have to be perfect to have a memory attached :)

It's important to record all the details, and often times, a photo is less than perfect, but is doesn't mean the story behind it is any less important. I think you've done a great job.
