A new technique

I really enjoyed trying this technique - so fun and simple. I followed the tutorial shared by Julie Kairl.  These are some of my progress shots ~ the first one is the 'wet' sprays, and the second is covered with plastic wrap (still wet).

Journalling on the back of the tag, tucked behind the photo: The old billy cart. They used to push the cart (with the kids in it) the full length of Hastings Street, up the hill and across to Sunshine Beach. Clarry and the kids (Peter and John), Mavis, Aunty Desley, and an unknown friend/neighbour.

ARTastic in October

ARTastic Challenge has another fabulous challenge this month.  This is the beautiful inspiration piece by Australian artist Lyn Butchart:

The challenge criteria this month is MIXED MEDIA + INK.  

I created a collage background and added some spray ink.  I took my inspiration from the colour palette. After a semi-disastrous beginning (not happy with my first choice of bubblegum pink) I ended up having a lot of fun layering and layering and layering! Ink spray, tissue paper, gesso, acrylic paint, modelling paste. Sometimes you just have to let it happen.
