Friends

Slowly clawing my way out of the creative wilderness, with another card:

# Some Odd Girl ~ Stash Challenge #4 ~ Make it Shimmer
I used: Kindy Glitz on the image, Lil Davis Glitter Glaze on the matt, Ranger Distress Stickles on the background
Digital image: 'A Mae Day' from Some Odd Girl, coloured with watercolour pencils

A little detail shot, blurred, but it shows the shimmer:

I'm also entering this card at:

# Simon Says ~ Friends
# Really Reasonable Ribbon ~ Challenge #2 ~ ribbon border
# Sentimental Sundays ~ Challenge #8 ~ favourite sentiment.  "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you"

Here's the rest of the sentiment, on the inside of the card:

Darkroom Door

Over at Scrap Pile, we have a new regular feature called 'Triple Treat' - the DT is each challenged to use the same 'tricky' piece of 12x12 patterned paper. We each create something and then compare the results. Scrap Pile customers then get a 'Triple Treat' of seeing three different ways to use the paper, as well as a discount offer in the store.  You can see the other designs in the forum.

For this month, Gill sent us a sheet of 'Allegro' patterned paper from the Darkroom Door 'Music Collection'. I scrapped an 8x8 layout and a card:

Launch

It's been a while since I joined in any challenges - I've been busy with some behind-the-scenes projects, as well as dealing with some real-life challenges of my own. But this week I couldn't resist the colour challenge at Design Dollies ~ grey and yellow. I can't recall ever using this combo before so I wanted to give it a go:

I didn't have any grey cardstock, so I used some backing board from one of my recent paper purchases, which matched perfectly with the overcast sky in the photograph. I also used: Kaisercraft 'Lilac Avenue - Wisteria' paper (reverse side), Graphic 45 'Renaissance Faire - Romantique' paper with lots of fussy cutting of the edges (reverse side again), BlueyeDezines flower (solid grey) and an assortment of yellow flowers from my stash, pale yellow Stampin' Up ribbon, Liquid Pearls (Platinum), Rose Moka 'Pique-Nique' alpha stickers and a heap of yellow machine stitching. The rose is made from a scrap of Prima 'Flights of Fancy - Faith' paper. I made a whole bunch of these for a DT layout in April and I had this one left over. The silver-grey lace is from my haby-stash (no idea where I got it from) and the bright yellow ribbon is also from my stash (another 'no clue where I got it from' item!) And buttons ~ I have a bottomless button stash.

The journalling/title combination is a quote from Henry David Thoreau: “You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment."

A guest designer

Since I've been busy with "secret-squirrel-can't-show-anyone-yet" projects, I'm posting a creation by my own little guest designer. The J-girl made a gorgeous card for her Daddy:

The image is "Pirate Ethan", a digital freebie from Pollycraft. The little circles in the corner are gold coins from a pirate's treasure chest :)

She is entering the card in these challenges:

# Simon Says ~ Shiver me timbers!
# Simon Says (Paper Craft Planet) ~ Challenge #6 ~ Oh boy!
# Cards for Men ~ Challenge #12

Edited to add: Thanks Stephanne for inviting J to enter her card into this challenge too:

# Creative Inspirations ~ Challenge 65 ~ One for the boys

Flashback...

I haven't been very chatty on the forum lately but I'm still loving the challenges over at Scrap Boutique.

This layout is an 8x8 for Amanda's Stash Stomper challenge. For June, it's all about using old stash of chipboard alphas in a different way. I used the negative from a sheet of Cosmo Cricket alphas, and made it into a background feature. I was thinking how it's been a while since I used this technique, so I went flipping back through my layouts and found these old ones:

Flashback to: March 2008
Flashback to: June 2008
Flashback to: September 2008

Here's the layout I created this week:

I also used lots of other older stash - Crate Paper 'Crush', a torn strip of Making Memories (the stripey one), Making Memories 'Noteworthy' journalling page, and a few bits and pieces that were lying on my desk too.

And now I've unearthed my stash of alpha negative sheets, guess I'll have to start using them again...

Distressed Couture

This month my Scrap Pile DT kit was full of Glitz Designs 'Distressed Couture' papers (and other delicious things too) and they are just devine! Here are the first of my projects for June:

Update from me

I haven't fallen off the edge of the planet. We've all been sick with the 'flu here and there's not a lot of creative energy to spare.

Here's a layout I did last month for Scrap Pile that I haven't shared here yet. I used some more LYB goodness from the Clothesline range (just love that diecut cardstock!) and I added some colour with Twinkling H2O's. Super simple.
