1,2,3 April cyber crop

I was really slack this time and only finished one challenge. This is my layout:

Challenge 1 criteria: Use the sketch provided, include paper tearing, and use one of the colour combinations (blue/brown for me, which will surprise nobody!)

CIS April cybercrop

This weekend was a busy one for me with family commitments and some other unrelated challenges along the way, but I did join in the Crafting in Style cyber crop. This month's theme was "TOOL IT" - focussing on different scrapbooking tools.

These are my layouts from the weekend:

Challenge 1 - Based on a sketch, and incorporating distressing techniques:

Challenge 3
-
Use scissors to create a decorative effect, use an eyelet setter to set at least 30 eyelets, and use pastel colours.

I did two layouts for this challenge, mostly because I had the eyelets and the eyelet setter out on the table and I thought, hey, I can get rid of another 30+ eyelets if I do another one!!

This one uses Gin-X patterned paper - love that stuff, though my stash is dwindling in that department. Love the pink/white/brown colours. And this is the first time I used a Heidi Swapp ghost frame!! I can't believe I never used them before. I have so many ideas for them and now I want to use them on everything :)
PS: Thanks Michelle H for your lovely RAK of the "heaven sent" metal eyelet plates. I've had them sitting there for a while and finally found the perfect use for them. xx

This one started out with me just playing around, then I decided to cut, and I just kept cutting, and cutting... Not to mention using up all my cream eyelets! Oh, and I love that quote by Maria Montessori.

Thanks for looking :)

And this is the one I did for the inaugural Aussie Scrapjacked challenge:

It's a scraplift of a layout by Erica Glover. I am a huge fan of Erica's work so it was heaps of fun coming up with something for the challenge.

Congratulations Sam on your win!! I am so thrilled for you!!

The Scrappers Hub cyber crop

Last weekend I participated in The Scrappers Hub April cyber crop - a fun time with fantastic challenges and great friends. I had to work late shifts over the weekend, so I didn't get as much scrapping done as I would've liked, but I totally enjoyed the challenges.

Thanks ladies, you are the best!!

My favourite layout of the weekend was this one:

This was a S-C-R-A-P challenge:
S - stamping and 'six'
C - cardstock and chipboard
R - ribbon
A - use at least 5 'A' words
P - petals and paint

I had so much fun putting this one together and it was selected as a winner! How cool is that. Thank you so much to Allison from Altogether Scrap for sponsoring this challenge - you rock! Can't wait to go shopping with you.

Photographs to share

I have signed up to participate in a nine month photography challenge at Crafting in Style. It's called "Stop the Moment from Running Away". Every month Jolene is setting three challenges, and we submit one photograph for each challenge. Then we create a layout each month using at least one of our submitted photographs.

In April the focus is on portrait composition. You'll have to visit the site for the lesson details.

Here are my entries:

Portrait Lesson 1 - Get in close! Nope, closer!

I just love how I captured the look of intensity on her face. I used my 28-105mm lens so I had to get in pretty close to get this. She was in a world of her own and didn't even notice me take the photograph.

Portrait Lesson 2 -
Get that person out of the centre of the photograph!

I love this one!! She is wearing that daggy, floppy hat that she loves, and I just love her amazing blue eyes! She really enjoyed this photo shoot, and I was so impressed that she just let me shoot off twenty or thirty shots in succession, without complaining!

Portrait Lesson 2 - Let's change angles!

This is my favourite photograph of the three. I was standing on some climbing equipment and she was hiding under a little bridge, so I leaned over to take this one. I was actually surprised that the lighting worked so well since it was starting to get quite late in the afternoon. There's that daggy hat again!! And the shirt is part of the costume from last year's end-of-year school concert. She loves the sequins and wears that shirt everywhere...

Now, I just have to decide which of these three to scrap for the April layout. No worries, I've got three days left to do it, LOL.

Dipping my toes

...into the muddy waters of blogdom... This really puts me 'out there', or maybe it just means I'm catching up with the rest of the modern world! Huge step for little me to be doing this.
